Scientist and Mom.

My work.

This webpage will highlight what I study, what I’m wondering about, what I’m working on - often external consulting but also short-form blogs based on mine and others important fire, food, and land use / land change research.

Potential students should visit my university page to contact me there. For 2021-2022, I am not accepting new graduate students.

Something Old.

I like to go fossil hunting (Ordovician) or stare at the Appalachian Mountains (also Ordovician) in Kentucky and think about deep time. A good way to center myself.

Something New.

I like to try new recipes. And master one new dessert and entrée each year. A good way to make my small child happy.

Something Fun.

I am a Geographer and love learning new languages and about new cultures. I find the diversity and complexity of Earth to be fascinating. A good way to grow.
